Why Give?

The Colorado Open Golf Foundation and The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch reached 1300 kids in the 2009 season and our sights are high for 2010! All of the programs and opportunities we are able to offer to our participants are made possible by the generous contributions we receive.

Please use this page to learn more about how you can help the kids of The First Tee Green Valley Ranch succeed!

Please view the content to the right for more information why giving is so important to our network, and how your gift will help our participants.

Be a Mentor…WE NEED YOU!!

The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch has a variety of opportunities where people can volunteer their time to make a difference in the life of a child. All potential mentors are required to complete a criminal background search.

Coaches and Mentors
Work with other Coaches to help children learn life skills and golf skills as well as rulles and etiquette.

  • Class Mentors - Weekly commitment to come to help with class or practice sessions one day each week. Class mentors help set up and take down the day's activities and instruct and play with the participants. Classes are held the following times and dates:
    • Monday - Thursday 3:30pm-6:30pm from April 8-Oct 11
    • Commitment times can vary! just let us know what type of commitment you can make!
  • Play Day Mentors - Friday Play Day Mentors spend Friday afternoons playing the Par 3 short course in a group with 3 of the children in the program. Play Day Mentors focus on teaching the kids how to play from tee to green and in an efficient manner with attention to etiquette. Play Day Mentors sign up for play days based on their availability.

To make a difference, click here to download the 2013 Mentor Application. (All mentors must fill out this application and return it to The First Tee of Green Valley Ranch by e-mail, fax, or mail.)

Colorado Child Care Tax Credit

The Colorado Child Care Contribution Credit was established to encourage greater private support of Colorado child care programs, like those provided by the Colorado Open Golf Foundation. Because monetary contributions to our youth programs qualify for this tax credit, you may be able to decrease the after-tax cost of your gifts by more than 50 percent.

The effect of the credit is that half of your donation to the Colorado Open Golf Foundation is offset by a reduction of your Colorado income taxes. You will still be able to claim your full contribution as a charitable deduction on your Federal and State income tax returns if you itemize deductions. Examples of the total impact on your taxes are show in the chart below. As always, you should consult with your tax advisor to determine how the credit will affect you personally.
